Rick Scott’s Medicare Tweet is Beyond Deceitful

FLARA President: Scott is No Defender of Medicare and Medicaid

The following statement was issued by Bill Sauers, President of the Florida Alliance for Retired Americans:

“Today Rick Scott declared himself the true defender of Medicare in a tweet. This statement is as shameful as it is deceitful.

“Rick Scott has failed repeatedly to protect retirees as governor. He supports the deep cuts to Medicare and Medicaid favored by Republicans in Washington. Scott simply cannot be counted on to defend or strengthen Medicare for the 4 million Floridians who rely on Medicare’s guaranteed benefits.

“Rick Scott invoked the 5th amendment 75 times when defending himself against charges of Medicare fraud while CEO of Columbia/HCA. As governor, he has made a practice of denying Medicaid benefits to Floridians.”
